40 Weeks - Yup I made it.

Yup, I made it to 40 weeks. I am 40 weeks and 3 days today. I know it is a good thing that Little Todd has had plenty of time to "bake" and he should be "well done" but I just want to meet him! When I would go in for my check-ups the midwives would remind me that alot of first time moms go late. That was always in my mind - but a small part of me really thought I would go on or closer to my due date. I was really hoping for the
7-7-11 date, but didn't happen. It is hard for a planner and not-so-patient person like me to wait - and waiting I have been doing. I have gotten the nursery all done except for his name over his bed (I need to post some pictures!!), the house fairly cleaned, and have started to clean random closets and cupboards. At least I am being fairly productive!
I feel good and the heat has not been to hard on me so I have that to be very thankful for. At least I am not miserable! I think the worst is at night. It is alot of tossing and turning, a couple bathroom breaks and of course dreams of meeting my son. I am hopeful every night that "this might be the night I go into labor" and my mind plays tricks on me thinking that contractions have started - but they haven't.
Todd and I have been going on alot of "last" dates lately, so we have been spending alot of time together. Every date we go on we think it could be our last as a family of two. I haven't really felt like cooking and we keep using it as an excuse that we will never be a family of two again. It is kinda getting expensive... he may need to come soon!
They temporarily scheduled my induction date for July 20. I really hope I don't need it - but at least I know there is an end in sight and I will get to meet my son soon! I cannot wait!!
Here is another photo of my 40 week bump. I really hope this is the last and there is no 41 week bump picture :)

39 Weeks

I am 39 Weeks this week and anxiously waiting for Baby P to arrive! Tomorrow is the D-Day (or the due date... woohoo) I am really hoping he comes tomorrow... I love the date: 7.7.11 - but as long as I have him by this weekend - I don't really care the date as much as I want him here!
Of course Todd and I stayed home for the 4th - we would have loved to be on a lake with our families, but if we would have gone anywhere - we would have had the baby in some other hospital - so we stayed home but enjoyed some time together as a family of two.

38 Weeks!

I am 38 Weeks this week and feeling good! I am starting to feel uncomfortable now and then - but for the most part I still feel good!  Baby could come anytime - I am just hoping to get through my last day of work on Friday - then he can come! :) I finally have his room almost done - just a few finishing touches. It is really turning out the way that I hoped!

Hopefully baby comes next week - when do you think he will come? Early, Late, Right on time?

Dresser Makeover

From the minute I started looking at nursery ideas and picked out the yellow and gray theme - I wanted to buy a junky dresser and make it pretty by painting it yellow - golden yellow - or "Viking" yellow. I bought this dresser at Salvation Army for $45 and a can of golden yellow paint from Lowe's for $10.
I fell in love with the dresser because it had very modern lines and lots of storage. I was scared it would not fit in the small nursery because it is about 5 feet long, but because it is fairly narrow, it works great. It is perfect for storage and to double as a changing table for Baby.
After some sanding and a few coats of paint - we had a bright yellow dresser! The problem was the top of the dresser. It had a very shiny coat of finish on the top and even some sanding didn't help the paint to stick to it very well. It was chip off very easily. If I laid a newspaper on the top of it, when pulling the newspaper up, it stuck to the dresser. I gave it one more layer of paint on top, let it dry, then added a couple layers of matte Mod Podge (I LOVE that stuff!). It has helped alot having the extra finish of Mod Podge on the top so things don't stick so much!
Here are a few pictures of the finished dresser:

The drawers were plain and boring - what better way to spruce them up than some wrapping paper and more Mod Podge?

There they are - bright blue drawers on the inside!!

Crib Skirt

I've been working on some projects in the nursery! Here is one project I finished lately:
I got this cool printed yellow and white zig zag print fabric at the local fabric store - I just love it! I couldn't find a pattern of a crib skirt that I liked so I made my own. It will be perfect for storing things under the crib.

I hemmed the bottom of each portion of the crib skirt and attached with velcro to bottom of the crib.

I got this great idea from this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4HD0f6DVBk from young house love.

More pictures of the nursery to come! :)
